Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is hopeful that the state of France will get rid of the Macron burden soon. The President claimed that Macron was taking France towards dangerous times.
While talking to reporters in the country’s capital, Istanbul, Erdogan stated that the French state is going through a hard time. He thinks it would be best for France to get ‘rid’ of his French counterpart.
Relations between Turkey and France, the two NATO member states, have seen a decline in the last few months. Both the states differ on a lot of issues, including the caricatures of the Holy Prophet and Syria.
The feud had started with Macron calling Islam a religion in crisis and the President of Turkey had in return insisted that Macron get his mental health checked.
France has also been increasingly limiting the rights of followers of Islam in the French state. As a result, Tayyip Erdogan had urged the entire Muslim world to boycott all products coming from France.
The call had been partially successful, with many Muslim countries taking products from the Western European country off of the shelves of their super markets.
The two countries have also been at loggerheads of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, with the French accusing Turkey of adding fuel to the fire between the conflicting parties, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Senate of France also passed a resolution, urging that the disputed region be recognized as a republic.
The Turkish President retaliated by saying that if France loves the Armenians so much, it should give away a part of its own territory to them.
