Taylor Swift Releases New Album “Midnights”

American music star Taylor Swift released her 10th album, “Midnights”, this Friday (21). The artist also released additional tracks made during the disc recording process.

The 32-year-old singer-songwriter describes the 13-track album “as a collage of intensity, ups and downs and ebbs and flows”.

“Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights,” said the artist in a post on her Instagram profile.

The first track is “Lavender Haze,” a term Swift said she first heard while watching the “Mad Men” television series about being in love, at the same time she described the album’s first single, “Anti-Hero.” ”, as one of the favorite songs he has ever written. She says the song delves into her insecurities.

“Snow On The Beach” features Lana Del Rey, a singer Swift has said she has long admired.

Taylor Swift also took to Instagram overnight to reveal that “Midnights” is a complete concept album “of the intensities of that crazy, mysterious hour” – she loves sharing her creative process with fans.

When the artist’s fans rushed to Spotify to listen to the record at midnight on Friday, the streaming giant experienced overwhelming traffic and users reported outages around the world.

But despite initial technical problems, the 13-track album, almost entirely written, produced and performed with Swift’s longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, is already a hit with fans.

Music critics were similarly enthusiastic about the album and some noted its subdued tone.

Awarding “Midnights” a five-star rating, Alexis Petridis of The Guardian describes the sound as “rich pop with self-loathing and breaking stereotypes” and “hazy, atmospheric and tasteful.”

“Midnights firmly delivers her from what she called the ‘folk woods’ of her last two albums back to electronic pop,” the expert stated.

Petridis also noted that Swift’s much-talked-about collaboration with Lana Del Rey, “Snow on the Beach,” is “beautifully done — a perfect genetic junction between her two musical styles with a beautiful melody — but it’s a far cry from a grandiose summit between two pop icons: there is an impressive lightness to the touch, a restrained fusion of their voices.”

“She’s playing cadence and emphasizing the grain of her voice like never before… eventually you stop caring about what’s taken directly from Swift’s real life and what isn’t,” Wood said.

Giving “Midnights” 8 out of 10, Matthew Neale of the website Clash Music writes that the album “feels voyeuristic in its exposition and brash in its execution”.

“Defined by dark nights of the soul and cast in the same blue-purple hues, ‘Midnights’ offers little revelatory purpose for those who haven’t yet succumbed to Swift’s charms,” he explained. “For those already influenced by her craft, however, it can reasonably be recognized as her best album to date.”
