Taylor Swift Month? Understand why August is trending among Swifties

The month of August has a different flavor for the singer’s fans Taylor Swift . Or rather, the “Swifties”, as they are called. Since 2020, fans of the pop star’s songs have been flooding social media at the beginning of the eighth month of the year. All this because of a song released by the artist called “August”.

The song is from Taylor Swift’s eighth studio album, “Folklore” . The album was very popular among the blonde’s fans and was critically acclaimed, becoming the big winner in the biggest category of the Grammy Awards, “Album of the Year”.

“August” is one of the most popular songs on the album. That’s because Taylor gave it a special touch: she made it an integral part of the love triangle story created within the album. The other songs that complete the “plot” invented by the artist are “Cardigan” and “Betty”.

Each of the songs is told from the point of view of one of the characters in the triangle. In “Cardigan,” Taylor presents the opinion of Betty, who was cheated on by her boyfriend James with a girl named Augustine. “Betty” presents the point of view of James, and “August” presents the point of view of Augustine.

In a documentary released on Disney+ about the album, Taylor explained that, despite what it may seem, Augustine is not the villain of the story. She was persuaded by James and believed that they would not be just “a summer fling,” as he himself ends up admitting it was in “Betty.” Therefore, the two girls were deceived by the man.

Augustine even makes it clear that the month of August was the time when she lived the love affair with James. “August was sipped like a bottle of wine, because you were never mine,” sings Taylor Swift in the song.

On X, internet users brought the singer’s name to the most talked about topics as they “celebrated” the arrival of the official music month.
