The case

Ana Clara was born in the city of Sonora, in the interior of Mato Grosso do Sul, and studied Psychology at the Federal University of Rondonópolis (UFR). She first traveled by plane to see Taylor Swift. According to a friend who was with her, the university student felt sick right at the beginning of the show and passed out.

The young woman was rescued at the aid station inside the Nilton Santos Stadium, Engenhão, and was later taken to the Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital, where resuscitation maneuvers were performed, but she did not survive.

On the day of the show in which Ana Clara died, the capital of Rio de Janeiro recorded 39.1°C and broke a thermal sensation record with 59.3°C.

In a statement, T4F said it contacted the family via the social assistance team. “We respect the right to privacy of family and friends in this time of pain and mourning who did not want to speak to us. We reinforce that we continue to have an open contact channel with the family and, in solidarity at this difficult time, we are available to provide all necessary assistance”, completes the note.

A CNN also contacted Universal Music, Taylor Swift’s record label, and the singer’s advisors, and is awaiting feedback.

The federal government notified T4F, the producer responsible for Taylor Swift’s shows in Brazil, to provide clarifications to the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) about the fan’s death.

On Saturday (18), one day after Ana’s death, the Ministry of Justice determined that bottled water should be allowed to enter shows and the drink would be made available free of charge in cases of high heat exposure. The government and Rio City Hall also announced measures to mitigate risks during the show due to the weather.

Saturday’s show (18) was postponed until this Monday (20) due to the heat. Yesterday (19), Taylor performed in front of more than 60 thousand people at Engenhão, and did not mention the fan’s death. Still this week, she will perform three shows in São Paulo, at Allianz Parque, and conclude The Eras Tour in Brazil.
