The taxi driver who took Thiago Rodrigues to the hospital said, this Friday (16), to Civil Police investigators that he saw the actor lying down for half an hour and that he only realized that he was hurt inside the car.
The statement, which was obtained exclusively by the CNN also suggests that the taxi driver witnessed the moment Thiago was rescued by stallholders working in Santos Dumont square.
“The declarant realized that there was a person lying down next to a tent at the Sunday market, that person lay down for about 30 minutes, until the arrival of the fairgrounds and noticed that two or three people approached the person, who was lying down in the square , and got up, that’s when he noticed it was a young man, white, wearing a cap and carrying a backpack on his back”, says one of the excerpts from the statement.
The police will now try to find out who the stallholders are who rescued the actor in the square. The intention is to try to understand how long he lay down and what he said when he was rescued. Investigators also want to know if they saw any strange movements.
In another part of the statement, the taxi driver says that Thiago only noticed that he was injured inside the car.
“Already inside the taxi, the boy complained that his head was bleeding, at which point he placed his hands on his head, without taking off his cap, and showed his bloody hands to the declarant. The declarant, after seeing the young man raise his hands to his head and show them covered in blood, advised him to go to a hospital to get a bandage, as he had an injury”, he continued.
Security camera footage from bars and restaurants near the place where Thiago was found is also being analyzed by the police. So far they haven’t found anything that suggests a group of bandits were moving, which weakens the hypothesis of robbery.
There are still two possibilities that have not been ruled out: that Thiago had injured himself, when he fell and hit his head, or that he had been involved in a fight, which would have caused the injuries.
THE CNN contacted the actor’s advisory but did not receive a response until the closing of this report.
