SYRIZA: Escalates the attack on the Lignadis case – Tsipras ‘initiative’ in the works

By Niki Zorba

SYRIZA does not shrink from identifying the outbursts of anger of artists and what takes place at local festivals-performances etc. with its own action and incitement.

Regardless of the fact that in public, Koumoundourou and its officials categorically reject accusations of actions instigated by it against D. Lignadis, even stating that it is an insult to identify the “righteous anger” of artists and Society with a party, undoubtedly, it enjoys it particularly .

Repeatedly, top officials of the party in their private discussions have agreed that the attacks the party receives from the government and the Minister of Culture on this issue, constitutes a great “gift”.

Some take their thinking even further (elections in view, regardless of when they will be held): When for a case that stirs up a storm of reactions in Society, such as the release of a person sentenced to 12 years in the first trial until the appeal, reactions that have no “color” or party, SYRIZA appears to represent them, then it is certain that great power is assigned to official opposition and from reservoirs in which he has stopped fishing since the Referendum of 15.

Hence the party, not only does not hesitate to identify it with the “uprising” of various people against Lignadis, but alsohe further refines his attack on the government regarding the case: With direct points and insinuations that he supports him but also other – possibly – initiatives that, according to information, Alexis Tsipras has in the “drafts” for the next few days and concern the Justice.

In mharsh announcement issued by the party yesterday – in a way response to the Government RepresentativeSYRIZA, among others, asked the Prime Minister and the Minister of Culture: (this was the goal and the “juice” of the announcement, after all):

“Why are they so offended by the criticism of the convicted rapist Lignadis and why are they bothered by the fair criticism of the contradictions of this decision?”.

Event on the Rule of Law

In the meantime, tomorrow there will be an event organized by the think tank of the Tsipras advisers, with a speaker and the president of SYRIZA, on the subject of Democracy and the Rule of Law, from where he will certainly launch his rants against the Government.

The event, which has been prepared for a long time, also coincides with the anniversary of the restoration of the Republic (Syriza read it as a “lucky” coincidence, as it would have been held anyway and not on the occasion of the anniversary).

It is obvious that the event will make full use of the “handles” from the current affairs but not only: Lignadis case, freedom of the press in Greece and other “files”, are in the drawer of the official opposition leader to be used in his speech.
