‘Symbol of stability’, says British ambassador about Queen Elizabeth II

The Acting Ambassador of UK at the Brazil Melanie Hopkins, in an interview with CNN classified the queen elizabeth II who died this Thursday (8), aged 96, as a “symbol of stability” for the British population.

For Melanie, the monarch was also a representation of the values of the people of the United Kingdom. “We are feeling a very deep sadness right now,” said the ambassador.

“People feel a huge affection for her. They admired her a lot for this commitment she had to public service, to work. It’s been over 70 years for the queen to work, so many people grew up just knowing her as a monarch,” Melanie pointed out.

In his view, while Elizabeth’s death ends decades of female leadership, King Charles III should continue the legacy by showing commitment to British values such as respect, tolerance and social issues.

“We have the Queen’s legacy. We have over 70 years of service showing female leadership and showing a strong commitment to our values. These same values are shared by all members of the royal family,” she opined.
