SXSW: Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, is announced at the festival

The former actress and now Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle joins the team of new names confirmed at the festival South by Southwest (SXSW), an event that takes place in Austin, Texas, in the United States, between March 8th and 16th.

According to an announcement made by the event this Monday (4), Meghan Markle is part of the team of women speakers on March 8th, International Women's Day, in the lecture entitled “Breaking Barriers, Shaping Narratives: How Women Lead on and Off Screen.”

Other names announced for the panel were: Katie Couric, Brooke Shields, Nancy Wang Yuen and Errin Haines .

“Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, Katie Couric, Brooke Shields, Nancy Wang Yuen and Errin Haines are the perfect finishing touch to eight days of notable speakers,” said Hugh Forrest, co-president and director of programming in a press release. “We are so honored to welcome this distinguished group on International Women’s Day for a meaningful discussion about the importance of representation in media and entertainment,” he added.

The talk promises to provide answers about how “visionary female leaders” at the forefront of news, media, entertainment and philanthropy are breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes to work towards a healthier society on and off screen.

SXSW is considered one of the biggest technology, music, innovation and culture events in the world, bringing attractions from different countries for special talks.
