Two suspects involved in the death of João Pedro Sousa de Oliveira Filho, aged 23, were interviewed by the Ceará Civil Police and released on Wednesday afternoon (2). The young man was shot dead last Monday (30), after an argument during an amateur football game on Rua Domingo Sávio, in Bairro Timbaúbas, in Juazeiro do Norte.
Witness reports indicate that João Pedro had a disagreement with an opponent during the match.
After the game, while heading home on his motorcycle, he was reportedly followed by two men on another motorcycle, who opened fire on him. Despite being taken to the Cariri Regional Hospital, the young man did not survive his injuries.
The Secretariat of Public Security and Social Defense (SSPDS) informed, in a note, that the Civil Police of the State of Ceará (PCCE) continues to investigate the case.
The Juazeiro do Norte Regional Police Station is responsible for the investigation and continues to carry out investigations and interviews to clarify the facts. “Two suspects involved in the crime spontaneously presented themselves at the Juazeiro do Norte Regional Police Station, where they provided clarifications”, explained the SSPDS.
The teams from the Military Police of Ceará (PMCE) and the Forensic Expertise of the State of Ceará (Pefoce) were called shortly after the crime and are also collaborating with the investigations.
