Cuban Alejandro Triana Prevez, 30, will give a new statement to the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police next Tuesday (30/01) and should reveal details about the murder of American gallerist Brent Sikkema, around two weeks ago .
According to lawyer Greg Andrade, who was with the prisoner this Friday (26/01), in the Gericinó Complex, Alejandro showed regret and said “he was willing to contribute everything” in the investigation by the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC), revealing including whether the crime was committed at the behest of someone.
“If this 'everything' involves whether there was a command, what it was like, what the weapon was, why and the motivation, it will be up to him (Alejandro) on the day of the testimony”, explains Greg.
According to the defense, when confronted with the evidence produced by the investigation, Alejandro Triana decided to talk about his involvement in the death and can, for the first time, admit that he killed Brent.
Prisoner served in Cuba's special troops and has already written a book about romance
A refugee in Brazil since 2022, Alejandro Triana told lawyers that he previously served in Cuba's special troops and that he speaks at least three languages: Spanish, Portuguese and English.
The Cuban has also written three books, one of which was published. In the work called “Grey Reflections of Love”, Alejandro describes his experiences, including moments of lust, advice and ways of living life. The book has 92 pages.

“According to Alejandro, he is also a veterinary professor and has already taught at an institute in Cuba. He also had a bicycle workshop and worked here in Rio as a tour guide”, says the lawyer.
Death investigations
The Capital Homicide Police, responsible for the case, believes that Alejandro Triana Prevez, 30, acted alone, but no line of investigation has been ruled out, not even the participation of Sikkema's husband in the crime. The man, who is said to be in the process of divorcing the gallery owner, is in Cuba. Brent Sikkema was going through a million-dollar fight to get a divorce and be able to see his son again.
Despite the family issue, the Civil Police believe that the motivation for the murder was financial. The case is being investigated as a robbery, which is robbery followed by death. About $40,000 was taken from the property the night Sikkema died.
The suspect was arrested at a gas station in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, on January 18. About 3 thousand dollars were found on him. In a statement to the police, already in Rio, Prevez denied any involvement in the death of the gallery owner, on the 14th, in Jardim Botânico, in the south zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
According to forensics, Sikkema was already unconscious when he suffered around 18 stab wounds. He was found by a friend, with his face covered with a cloth.
