In celebration of “Mario Day” The Nintendo and the Illumination confirmed a new animation based on the world of Super Mario Bros . The announcement was made by Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo, and by the founder of the animation studio, Chris Meledandri and shared on social media.
The sequel to “Super Mario Bros” is scheduled to hit American theaters in April 3, 2026.

The first film was released last year and reached historic numbers. In addition to surpassing US$1 billion in tickets sold around the world, the work became the biggest film adaptation of a game with the highest grossing in history, surpassing “Warcraft – The First Meeting of Two Worlds” and “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.”
It is also worth mentioning that “Super Mario Bros: The Movie” became the tenth animated film in history to exceed US$1 billion, becoming the tenth biggest animated film of all time worldwide, surpassing US$ 942.5 million that “Minions 2: The Rise of Gru” grossed in 2019.
