Sudan: 177 Egyptian soldiers captured by paramilitaries returned to their homeland

The 177 Egyptians military personnel who had fallen into the hands of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan were airlifted to Egypt, announced the Sudanese army, which is now embroiled in a war with the DTY.

Earlier, the Egyptian army announced that it was “coordinating its efforts with various competent Sudanese authorities for the safe return of all military personnel to the country”.

Egyptian soldiers have left Dongola, in northern Sudan, for their homeland, the general staff in Khartoum said.

Egypt’s armed forces men were at an air base in northern Sudan for “joint training”, according to the general staff in Cairo, when the African country descended into chaos on Saturday.

A student was hit by a stray bullet – “The situation is terrifying”

Meanwhile, fighting in the country continues as efforts for a truce fail. In fact, a school teacher in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, said one of his students was shot in the head by a stray bullet.

“One of the children has been shot in the head by a stray bullet. Many people in Sudan have lost their lives in this way,” the teacher, named Mo, told the BBC’s Newsday program on Wednesday.

He added that the residents of the capital of Sudan are used to the “terrifying” situation. He added that on Wednesday morning there were loud sounds of artillery, stressing that “no one listens and does not respect the ceasefire”.

It is noted that the interview was briefly interrupted by the sounds of gunshots, as the teacher asked to be moved to a safer place.

In addition, Mo stated that food supplies are becoming less and less every day as shops and supermarkets remain closed. “The electricity is stable, but at any moment it can be interrupted,” he said.

This came as the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Force (RSF) traded accusations of violating a 24-hour humanitarian ceasefire declared on Tuesday. Finally, nearly 200 people have been killed in the fighting that began on Saturday.
