Students at the University of Belgrade interrupted the exclusion of the Serbian Public Television (RTS) building that lasted 14 days. This decision was concluded after meeting their main demand, which was to start the procedures for the establishment of the Independent Regulatory Authority (REM). There had been an extraordinary meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Information, where it was unanimously decided to announce a tender for the election of REM members. The authority that controls the work of the electronic media had been dissolved in November 2024 and – as students complained – the government was trying to prevent its recommendation with various irregularities. The exclusion of the public television building began on the night of April 14 in protest of the way it covered student mobilizations.
