Student prevented witness from leaving hotel room before being killed by police

The woman who was with the 22-year-old medical student, killed by a military police officer in a hotel in the south of São Paulo, claimed that Marco prevented her from leaving the room they were in more than once during an argument they had earlier of him being killed. The incident took place in the early hours of last Wednesday (20).

In her statement, the woman stated that the argument began when Marco Aurélio Cardenas Acosta prevented her from working out of jealousy. At the time of the fight, the woman tried to leave the room where they were, when the student closed the door.

The woman tried once again to leave the room, when she alleges that Marco hit her in the head. At that moment, the witness reports that he said to Marco: “Look what you just did, you are putting your hand on me”.

During the argument, the hotel receptionist called the room where they were both staying and asked if everything was okay. The woman reports that, at that moment, Marco answered yes and, out loud, asked the woman if she was okay too. In response, the woman said no.

According to the document, after hearing the witness’ response, the receptionist called the Military Police, when the woman decided to run out of the room, went downstairs and hid in a room in the hotel to request a travel app to leave.

In a video published on social media, the witness reported that moments after hiding, he heard the sound of the shot that killed the student. “It didn’t even take two minutes and everything happened. I don’t know what happened on the street, no one showed me. He [Marco] he was drunk, I won’t say he was 100% sober. I didn’t see it, but I heard it. It was half an hour waiting for the ambulance, he was ‘alive’”, concluded the woman.
