A 16-year-old student was shot in the head by a 17-year-old student inside a private school in Teresina (PI). The case occurred on Wednesday morning (4) and the victim is hospitalized in serious condition.
The incident took place at Colégio CPI, located in the capital of Piauí. The teenager who fired the shot would be the ex-girlfriend of the boy who was shot.
According to delegate Tales Gomes, the incident occurred in the school cafeteria, where there were only two employees and students.
There is still no information about the dynamics of what happened, but the police reported that the images from the security cameras have already been collected and will be analyzed together with the girl’s version, which was apprehended and is being heard at the Security and Protection of Minors Police Station.
The police reported that in addition to the 9mm weapon used to hit the boy, a fish knife was also seized from the student’s backpack.
At a press conference, the girl’s father, Leonardo Rodrigues, stated that they were together for a short time. He said he only missed the gun when he heard the news. Rodrigues reported that he spoke to his daughter, who says she regrets the situation.
“The weapon was kept, locked inside the closet. I can’t tell you if she took the other key, I don’t know. I only missed the gun after I heard the news. She said that she didn’t want this type of problem to happen, that she is very sorry for what happened.”
The boy is hospitalized in serious condition at the Teresina Professor Zenon Rocha Emergency Hospital. In a statement, the school said it regrets what happened and highlighted that it provided assistance to the victim.
“We reinforce our commitment to fully collaborate with the competent authorities, who are already investigating the facts, and we will take all measures. At this time, we have intensified our internal actions to ensure an even safer and more welcoming environment for everyone”, says the school, in a statement.
