Streaming is the subject of 52 thousand tweets per week in Brazil; see most commented series

An unprecedented survey carried out by Twitter shows that the word “streaming” is the subject of more than 52,000 tweets per week in Brazil. In total, 88% of the discussions are about series.

Among the most commented series on the platform, three stand out in the lead in the 1st half of 2022: Stranger Things, euphoria and Heartstopper.

The survey was carried out to understand what is relevant to people on Twitter who consume content via streaming. The study points out that 82% of these people say they watch content from more than one streaming platform.

“People love to comment on what they’re watching: every episode, plot twist or renewal request becomes a Tweet,” Twitter said Thursday.

The study carried out by the platform also shows that Brazilians are 59% more likely to use social networks while watching streaming content, compared to people who do not have a Twitter profile.

“Brazilians use Twitter while watching streaming content for a variety of reasons, such as reading and sharing opinions (46%), making live comments (39%), reading reviews (36%), discovering new content (25%) and supporting the cast of their favorite productions (17%),” tweeted.

Series that are “pop” on Twitter

About 3/4 of people who use Twitter watch series at least once a week. Between January 1 and June 30, 2022, Stranger Things was the most talked about series on the platform.

Euphoria, Heartstopper, Bridgerton and SPY X FAMILY appear in the sequence among the most popular among Brazilians on Twitter in the period.

What do users love about streaming?

The releases are among the most frequently viewed streaming content by people on Twitter, including original productions from each platform. In total, 41% of people declare interest in the launches.

Nostalgia follows soon after, with 18% of people on the platform saying they enjoy watching old TV shows and movies.

Live sports (15%), adaptations of existing content in other media – such as books, video games, etc. (14%), reruns of sporting events (5%) and reboots and remakes (2%) follow.

The survey was carried out in 2022 by Twitter in Brazil with internal data from the platform.
