Storm Shadow missiles have already been sent to Ukraine, says British minister

UK Defense Minister Ben Wallace said the long-range Storm Shadow missiles, which were supplied to Ukraine, had been used since the deployment was announced.

Speaking at a London press conference alongside Norwegian counterpart Bjørn Arild Gram on Thursday, Wallace said he would not give further operational details.

“All I can say is that I understand it has been used since we announced its deployment in Ukraine, but I won’t go into more detail,” he said.

Storm Shadow is a long-range cruise missile with stealth capabilities, jointly developed by the UK and France, which is typically air-launched. With a firing range in excess of 250 kilometers, or 155 miles, it is slightly less than the 185-mile range capability of the US-built Army Tactical Surface-to-Surface Missile Systems, or ATACMS, that Ukraine has. very requests.

The missiles have the range to reach deep into Russian-controlled territory in eastern Ukraine. A Western official told the CNN that the UK has received assurances from the Ukrainian government that these missiles will only be used within Ukrainian sovereign territory and not within Russia.

Last week, Wallace called the donation “Ukraine’s best chance to defend itself against Russia’s continued brutality.”
