Stoltenberg: Russian spring offensive in Ukraine has already begun – “They are sending more weapons and troops”

THE Jens Stoltenberg clarified that NATO has seen indications, according to which the Russia has begun to launch a spring attack on Ukrainein an attempt to win, before new Western reinforcements arrived.

The NATO Secretary General told reporters that “we see no sign that President Putin is preparing for peace (…) What we see is that President Putin and Russia still want to control Ukraine. We see how they send more troops, more weapons, more capabilities».

He also stated that expects the issue of aircraft procurement to be discussed at the upcoming two-day meeting of NATO defense ministers which will start tomorrow Tuesday, where Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov will participate.

“There is now a discussion going on about the aircraft issue as well and I expect it will also be discussed tomorrow at the meeting in Brussels,” he stressed.

He added that the supply of fighter jets from Alliance countries to Ukraine will not turn NATO into a war party.

At the same time, the g.c. of NATO noted that the Alliance plans to increase its targets for ammunition stocks, which are being depleted by the war in Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine is consuming a huge amount of ammunition (…) This is putting our defense industries under pressure. (…) Therefore, we need to increase production and invest in our production capacities,” he then stated.
