Statues, warships and dinosaur footprints revealed after river drought

Drought in rivers in the United States, Europe and Asia has revealed unusual discoveries that were submerged. Buddhist statues, WWII ship and dinosaur footprints are some of the more recent sightings.

In the United States, dinosaur footprints dating back about 113 million years were revealed in Dinosaur Valley State Park in Texas due to severe drought conditions that emptied a river. The information was confirmed by the park, through a statement, this Monday (22).

“Most of the footprints that were recently discovered in different parts of the river in the park belong to Acrocanthosaurus. This was a dinosaur that would have, as an adult, been about 4.5 meters tall and [com peso] close to seven tons,” park spokeswoman Stephanie Salinas Garcia told CNN by email.

In southwest China, falling water levels in the Yangtze River revealed a submerged island in the city of Chongqing, and a trio of Buddhist statues believed to be 600 years old, state media Xinhua reported.
