Filmmaker Steven Spielberg declared that “Zone of Interest” is the best film about the Holocaust he has ever seen in his life.
The film from studio A24, directed by Jonathan Glazer and based on the book of the same name by Martin Amis, portrays the period without showing a single scene of the horror of the Jewish genocide during the Second World War on screen.
“Zone of Interest” It's the best Holocaust film I've witnessed since mine. It's doing a very good job of raising awareness, especially about the banality of evil”, said Spielberg, citing “Schindler's List”, directed by him and released in 1993.
Spielberg once again launched a production about the Second World War. The series “Masters of the Air”, which premiered on Apple TV+ in January, tells the story of an American bombing group and is produced by the filmmaker in partnership with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman.
Glazer's film is nominated for the Oscar for Best Film and features Sandra Hüller, who is competing for the Best Actress award for “The Anatomy of a Fall”, as the protagonist.
The film has been showing in Brazil since February 15th and competes in four other categories at the Oscars: Best International Film, Best Direction, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound.
