Spain’s prime minister will testify on July 30 to an appeals investigator looking into allegations of corruption and undue influence against his wife Begonia Gomet, a case that has rocked the government for several weeks. Appellate investigator Juan Carlos Peinado will hear the head of government “on July 30 at 11 a.m.” as a “witness” at the Moncloa Palace, the head of government’s official residence, the Madrid court said in a statement, in which belongs to the judge. The Socialist leader, who has said since the case began that his wife has done nothing wrong and that they are the target of “strategic harassment”, will have to testify about alleged undue influence.
