Spain: Gang of Ukrainians and Russians kidnapped Ukrainian refugees

Ukrainians and Russians thugs were cooperating in Spain to steal money and valuables from Ukrainian refugees who settled in this country after Russian invasionthe local police announced.

The suspects, seven Ukrainians and three Russians, had targeted refugees they had taken with them while fleeing “all their savings and articles of great value”, according to police authorities. The ten arrested are believed to have broken into seven houses of Ukrainian refugees in the provinces of Alicante and Murcia.

The police confiscated various items worth around 1.25 million euros, jewelry and computers. Among the valuable items was a stamp collection valued at half a million euros.

The perpetrators had installed GPS devices in the cars used by the victims so that they could track their movements.

Spain has taken in around 160,000 Ukrainian refugees since the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Recently, the authorities announced that they dismantled a network that ran three tobacco factories where refugees were forced to work in shantytowns.
