A 73-year-old man was arrested in the act on suspicion of provoking an explosion that led to the collapse of a residence in Brasilândia, northern São Paulo, on the morning of last Tuesday (22). The incident resulted in the death of the suspect’s great -granddaughter, a four -month -old baby .

Preliminary investigations indicate that the elderly, owner of the residence, would have disagreed with the tenants due to rent issues. During the discussion, he is appointed as responsible for causing the explosion that culminated in the collapse.

According to the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), agents were called around 6 am to meet the occurrence. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the collapse of the property and rescued five people from the rubble.

Among the victims was the baby, who was referred to the Brasilândia Municipal Hospital, but could not resist the injuries. Four other people were injured and remain under observation.

The rescue operation mobilized thirty firefighters and ten vehicles, and the state’s Civil Defense confirmed the service to all victims on site.
