The National Assembly of South Korea will meet this Wednesday (4) to discuss the impeachment motion against President Yoon Suk Yeol.
The motion will be heard in a plenary session and voted on by legislators on Friday (6) at midnight or Saturday (7) at midnight, local time.
Six opposition parties filed a bill calling for Yoon’s impeachment after he declared — and then repealed — Martial Law.
The main opposition Democratic Party said it had begun formalizing plans to charge the president with treason.
The opposition needs around eight members of the ruling party to support the change.
The country’s largest trade union group said its members would strike until the president resigns.
Yoon’s defense minister, chief of staff and other senior officials submitted their resignations.
