Solidarity Christmas 2020: gifts for the care and health of others

Francesca Pirozzi Foundation – Give a pixel as a gift
The Francesca Pirozzi Foundation, founded by Marco Pirozzi, a father who had his daughter taken away at the age of 24 from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, launches the initiative for this Christmas “Give a pixel”, To support research. The image of the cover of the book “The Ideal Food”, a volume on the importance of a healthy diet for cancer patients, edited by Francesca as a degree thesis, has been fragmented into many colored bricks: 150 thousand pixels. Each has the value of 1 euro and can be purchased on the site. The 150 thousand euros will be donated to the cancer research project of a group of researchers from the University of Urbino.

Colvin for Banco Alimentare Onlus
Colvin, the company that revolutionized the cut flower sector by creating the first network without intermediaries and shortening the supply chain, this Christmas is alongside the Fondazione Banco Alimentare Onlus, which has been working for over 30 years to fight food waste and hunger in Italy. Until 6 January 2021, for each photo taken with his own Colvin plant or bouquet and then published as a post on Instagram with the hashtag #Colvinsolidale, Colvin will donate 50 cents to the association.

Scrap art – Road to Green 2020
Road to green 2020, an association for environmental sustainability, has created original paintings inspired by classic fairy tales, revisited with a view to recovering waste materials. The entire proceeds from the sale of these paintings will be invested in environmental sustainability promotion activities.

Unes for Fondazione Pangea Onlus
After the great success of the past few years, the commitment of Unes in supporting the Pangea Onlus Foundation is renewed, also for 2020: during the Christmas holidays, the Unes group promotes a solidarity initiative to support women victims of violence and their children. From 7 December, in fact, in all the stores involved, against a donation of 2 euros in the cash desk, it is possible to receive a special Christmas decoration created specifically by the artist Enrica Mannari. It is a small gesture with a great symbolic value, especially in these last months of forced coexistence imposed by the lockdown, in which episodes of domestic violence have multiplied.

AIRC against pediatric tumors
They come back the solidarity products of the AIRC Foundation for those who want to concretely support research on pediatric cancer even at Christmas, a gesture that takes on even greater importance this year in which the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the progress of cancer research, slowing down the activity in the laboratories and the transfer of results to patients, and penalized the raising of new funds from allocate to the work of researchers. Among the gifts available? The trio of Christmas balls, Italian extra virgin olive oil, Research Chocolates, the ceramic mug and organic orange honey.

More and more people are choosing to turn to private centers because, for personal or business reasons, they want to verify that they are not positive for Coronavirus. The offer in Milan is very wide and the prices are not always low. Medici in Famiglia, which has always been committed to guaranteeing quality health for all, offers tampons at a cost of 90 euros, and invests the profits deriving, also from this activity, in providing free health services. Aware that not everyone can afford tampons at this rate, especially at a time when many have lost their jobs or are on layoffs, from the center the idea of ​​the “suspended tampon” was born, which allows less well-off people to book an antigenic or molecular tampon for free. The current health emergency from Covid-19 risks transforming the right to health into a privilege reserved for the few: in recent months the number of poor people in the world has increased by one million. “Restart” Project – Province of Lombardy-Venetia Fatebenefratelli
Covid 19 is cured but starting over, for many, is difficult. The virus leaves behind it physical and psychological consequences in those who have experienced suffering firsthand, but also in those who have suffered the loss of loved ones and isolation, fear and uncertainty, the economic crisis. To heal these wounds, the “Restarting” project was born, which applies the charism of the Hospitality of St. John of God to Covid 19 and intervenes on a front that has not yet found a structured response from the National Health Service.
Also through a fundraiser open to private donors, a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic will be activated in the Lombard structures of the Hospital Order that will provide comprehensive assistance: checkups and personalized diagnostic interventions will be carried out at the Sacra Famiglia Hospital in Erba (CO) to evaluate any outcomes of the disease, while in the structures specialized in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses (Sant’Ambrogio Center in Cernusco sul Naviglio , Sacred Heart of Jesus Center of San Colombano al Lambro and IRCCS San Giovanni di Dio of Brescia) psychological consultations will be carried out, even remotely.

Run your life
CORRI LA VITA (www.corrilavita.it) is a project born in 2003 to help women affected by breast cancer, which funds initiatives regarding the prevention, early diagnosis, treatment of this disease and psychological support for the patient. Symbol of this event are the t-shirts signed by Salvatore Ferragamo, which this year were given to medical and paramedical staff and to all patients of the 14 “Quality Breast Health Centers” coordinated by the Senonetwork project in 9 Italian regions and exactly in Bologna, Bolzano, Milan, Misterbianco (CT), Ortona (CH), Pavia, Pisa, Rimini, Rome, Rozzano (MI), Trieste, Legnano (MI), Verona.
