As Germany prepares for a ‘soft confinement‘as of November 2, Helge Braun, Chief of Staff of the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, said he is confident that the lockdown can prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed by coronavirus patients.
“The lockdown that Merkel agreed with the state prime ministers was aimed at allowing the economy to function more normally in December,” Braun added.
This happens after the European economic power reported on Thursday of the record of 16,774 new coronavirus cases.
