“Shrek 5”: animated sequel gets teaser and premiere is confirmed for 2026

On Tuesday (9), DreamWorks confirmed “Shrek 5”, scheduled to premiere on July 1, 2026 and released the first teaser from the sequel to the famous animated franchise.

The new production will return with the original cast, formed by Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy It is Cameron Diaz voicing the protagonists Shrek, Donkey and Fiona.

Two weeks ago, Murphy had already confirmed the information, in addition to revealing to the North American portal Collider that the film began to be made “four or five months ago”. He also added that the Donkey will get his own movie .

In addition to the main films “Shrek” (2001), “Shrek 2” (2004), “Shrek the Third” (2007) and “Shrek Forever After” (2010), the franchise already has some spin-off films such as “Puss in Boots: Trapped in an Epic Tale” and “Puss in Boots 2: The Last Wish”.

The first film in the universe was released in 2001 and tells the story of an ogre whose life is “invaded” by fairy tale characters who destroy the tranquility of his home. He makes a deal to rescue a princess and, along the way, makes new friends, with a talking donkey and Puss in Boots.
