Shooting at Trump rally investigated as attempted murder

The shooting at a rally for former President and candidate Donald Trump is being investigated as an assassination attempt, according to officials. The U.S. Secret Service said the gunman fired multiple shots from an “elevated position” outside the Republican’s rally before being killed by agents.

One rally attendee died and two were seriously injured after the incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night (13), according to Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the US Secret Service.

The shooter also died, Guglielmi said in a statement.

“The United States Secret Service responded quickly with protective measures and former President Trump is safe. One bystander was killed and two bystanders were seriously injured. This incident is currently under investigation and the Secret Service has notified the FBI,” Guglielmi said in a statement.

Former President Donald Trump was removed from the stage at a rally in Pennsylvania, United States, this Saturday (13), after gunshots were heard at the scene.

Reporters at the scene reported hearing “a series of loud explosions or bangs” before Secret Service agents rushed toward him.

Trump came out with an ear injury and was bleeding. He also shouted back at the crowd and raised his fist.
