Sheriff Chad Chronister withdraws nomination to head DEA after Trump’s announcement

Chad Chronister, the sheriff who was chosen by Donald Trump for the post of head of the US Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), announced yesterday, Tuesday, that he is withdrawing his candidacy. This is the second announced appointment of Mr. Trump being canceled. “In recent days, as I have come to realize the weight of this extremely important responsibility, I have come to the conclusion that I must convincingly withdraw” from the process of considering the candidacy for the position, explained Mr. Chronister, a county sheriff in Florida, via X. The team of Mr. Trump, who is handling the transition process, did not immediately respond when asked by Reuters for comment on the sheriff’s decision.
