Actress Sharon Stone stated that she suggested to a film studio in the 1990s to make a film about the Barbie doll, but that the idea was immediately rejected.
“I was ridiculed when I took the idea of a Barbie film to the studio in the 1990s, despite the support of the brand's director. What evolution! I thank all the women for their courage and persistence,” she declared.
The message was shared in a comment she made on an Instagram post by actress America Ferrera, who played mother Gloria in the film.
The publication was a video of Ferrara's speech at the Critics Choice Awards after receiving honor for her importance and representation in the film industry.
Despite Stone's comment having over 9,000 comments, it only received 18 comments, none of which were from Ferrera or the director, Greta Gerwig, or lead actress and producer Margot Robbie.
