Sexual assault outside a nightclub, the attack filmed on the phone

A sexual assault that occurred at the beginning of June outside a nightclub followed byarrest of a 19-year-old Italian man who allegedly raped a girl his age and filmed the attack on the telephone mobile phone. The two had met that same evening. The boy was arrested on charges of sexual assault and very serious injuries. Investigators from the Pontedera police station, in the Pisa area, also identified him thanks to social media.

The investigations started from the moment the victim was admitted to hospital: the red code was triggered immediately. She had a prognosis of between 20 and 40 days for the injuries she suffered. She explained to the police that she would have tried in vain to push the young man away and that he would also have filmed what had happened. The police traced him back to him through the nickname he used on Instagram and the girl’s description of her.

The young man was tracked down on 14 June again in Pontedera and arrested in execution of a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Pisa at the request of the local prosecutor’s office.

Violence is constantly increasing until 2022 and will decrease in 2023 according to data processed by Criminal Analysis Service of the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police which collects data on persecutory acts, sexual violence and mistreatment of family members. These are crimes that are considered spy or sentinel, which are considered possible indicators of gender violence, as a likely expression of physical, sexual, psychological or economic violence directed against a person as a woman.

There were almost 5,500 reports of sexual violence in 2023 in Italy15 per day, over 16 thousand acts of stalking, 25,898 cases of mistreatment. The victims are almost always women. In the period 2020-2023, the incidence of female victims is almost constant, standing at
between 73 and 75% for stalking, between 81 and 82% for mistreatment against family members and
cohabiting and with values ​​ranging between 91 and 93% for sexual violence.
