A 27 -year -old man was arrested by the Pernambuco Civil Police, accused of a rape series committed in central neighborhoods of Recife. The identification of the suspect was possible by crossing genetic profiles after he left traces of DNA.
The arrest took place at the Rosarinho Woman Station, in the North Zone of the capital, where he had been summoned to provide clarification on another case. At the scene, the police served arrest warrants related to the investigated rapes.
Police said four victims have been identified so far: two teenagers, 16 and 17, and two 20 -year -old women.
At a news conference, delegate Larissa Souza reported that the first crime attributed to the suspect occurred in 2023, and the most recent was in February 2025, near the Marco Zero do Recife. In one of the occurrences, he robbed a bus and forced the victim to get off the collective. In another case, she pretended to help a woman who had been stolen and led her to a motel, where she committed the rape.
The man had already been arrested for theft in 2018. At the time, his genetic material was collected and inserted into the Pernambuco genetic profile bank. DNA was fundamental for the elucidation of cases.
The name of the suspect was not disclosed. The Civil Police do not rule out the possibility that he has made other victims in the Pernambuco capital. The investigations continue.
