A 64-year-old American man sentenced to death for killing a truck driver and father of seven in 1998 was executed by lethal injection in Alabama on Thursday, prison authorities in the southern US state said. Gavin, who had pleaded not guilty, had been convicted of murdering William Clayton, a 68-year-old truck driver and father of seven, while he was withdrawing money from an ATM to go out to dinner with his wife.
