Three people are arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death of trader Igor Peretto, 27 years old. He was murdered with 11 stab wounds inside an apartment in the city of Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo.
According to investigations, Igor was murdered after discovering a love triangle between his wife, Rafaela Costa da Silva, 26, his sister, Marcelly Peretto, 21, and his brother-in-law, Mario Vitorino da Silva Neto, 23 – Marcelly’s husband .
The crime occurred at the end of August and the three suspects are in preventive custody. See what is known about the case.

Igor Peretto (victim)
The merchant was married to Rafaela, with whom he had a five-year-old son. About a month before the crime, he published a tribute to her on her birthday.
Igor even made declarations of love to his wife before being lured into the ambush that she allegedly set up.
The victim owned a car store in Praia Grande. Igor is also the brother of councilor Tiago Peretto (União Brasil), from São Vicente.

Also a trader, Rafaela is identified in investigations as the pivot of the crime and lover of Mario and Marcelly.
According to the Public Ministry’s complaint about the case, Rafaela, together with Marcelly, were responsible for luring Igor to the scene of the crime. “If that wasn’t enough, they tried to erase the traces of the crime and simulate a fake physical fight to invoke self-defense. Added to this is the fact that RAFAELA deleted the content of messages exchanged with her accomplices on the day of the crime”, says the MP.
About an hour before the murder, the security camera in the elevator of the building where Marcelly lived – and where the crime occurred – caught the two suspects hugging.
A few minutes before Igor is stabbed, Rafaela leaves Marcelly’s building. The investigation revealed that, while she was waiting for her accomplices, she searched on the internet: “how long does it take for the body to stink”.
Later, she met with the other two suspects in Campos do Jordão (245 kilometers from the crime scene and 60 kilometers from Caçapava).
At around 12:30 pm, around seven hours after the crime, Rafaela – the victim’s wife – stayed at a motel in Pindamonhangaba (SP) with Mario, who is believed to be responsible for stabbing Igor.

Igor’s sister, who presented herself on social media as a photo model, was married to Mario – believed to be the perpetrator of the stabbings.
Marcelly is named in the investigation as “Mario’s accomplice”, who “did not provide assistance, locked the apartment, making it difficult to help Igor, in addition to accompanying and helping Mario escape”.
“The night before the crime, the four involved went to a party. Putting the deadly plan into practice, early in the morning, RAFAELA and MARCELLY left the snow early and went together to MARCELLY’s apartment, where they exchanged kisses and caresses. Shortly afterwards, Igor and MARIO also left the party together, in MÁRIO’s car, and ended up going to MARCELLY’s apartment, attracted by RAFAELA, who made calls and sent messages to her lover MARIO, even knowing that he was accompanied by his husband Igor”, says the Public Ministry’s complaint.
“Instead of helping her brother, seeking help, Marcelly chose to flee with her ex-husband, helping him escape and leaving his dying brother behind,” says the investigation.
After the crime, Marcelly went to Mario’s apartment with him and they both fled to the interior of São Paulo.

In addition to being Igor’s brother-in-law, Mario was his partner in a motorcycle shop. He was considered by people close to him as the victim’s “best friend”.
According to investigations, after the three suspects had lured the victim to the scene of the crime, Mario stabbed Igor. Shortly before the crime, a security camera in the elevator of the building where the murder took place caught an argument between the two.
In a letter sent to the Court in which he requested the extension of the suspects’ temporary detention, police chief Renato Mazagão Junior stated that Mario “creates a version that tries to make people believe that there was self-defense”.
Hours after the crime, Mario and his widow went to a motel in the interior of São Paulo, where, according to the investigation, “they would have stayed for three hours, which, according to
Rafaela would have to wash and change her clothes, which were stained with blood.” They then abandon Mário’s car on a street in the center of Pindamonhangaba.
“Igor’s death would bring a great financial advantage to the accused trio, as MÁRIO could take over the leadership of the company he had with the victim, being a successful businessman. RAFAELA, widow, would receive her inheritance/sharecropping. And MARCELLY, who had a relationship with the two direct beneficiaries, would also have the financial benefits”, says the MP’s complaint.
What the suspects’ defenses say
In a statement, Mario’s defense stated that “the investigation proved to be confusing by pointing out an economic bias, ignoring numerous pieces of evidence that indicate a crime of impulse” and reaffirmed its commitment to “Justice correctly applied to the specific case”.
Marcelly’s defense explained that the victim’s sister was at home, lying in her bed, when Igor and Mario arrived arguing.
“Mario went straight into the apartment because he still had the password. Igor, nervous, kicked a door that had a mirror and broke it. Then, Marcelly, naked, got out of bed and went to the next room to put on clothes. She says that she was in a daze because she used to drink.”
As the argument did not stop, “after finding clothes and getting dressed, he returned to the room and started shouting for help”. “[Ela] He saw Mário getting off his brother but did not witness any stab wounds,” said Marcelly’s defense.
