See who the police officers were in an accident with PRF vehicle in Rio

Three agents of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) died on the morning of Friday (18) during a chase in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The fatal victims were identified as Rodrigo Pizetta Fraga, Carlos Eduardo Mariath Macedo and Diego Abreu de Figueiredo.

In a statement, the PRF reported that Fraga had been part of the corporation since September 2012 and worked at the Duque de Caxias police station. He was 47 years old, married and father of a daughter.

Mariath joined the team in February 2017, also packed in Duque de Caxias. He was 41 years old, married and father of two children.

Figueiredo, in turn, had been at PRF since January 2022, worked at the Rio de Janeiro police station, was married and father of a son.

The corporation decreed official mourning three days after the death of the agents.

In a statement, Minister of Justice and Public Security, Ricardo Lewandowski, expressed “deep regret” for the occurrence and said that the government will “provide all the necessary support to family members at this time of pain.”

Lewandowski highlighted the “importance of the work of the PRF in the preservation of public order and the protection of society, recognizing the efforts of the police involved, who acted in the mission of ensuring safety on federal highways during the holiday.”

The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the competent authorities.
