The first train of Line 17-Gold was delivered on Friday night (26), in the city of Guang'an, China, where it was manufactured. The estimated arrival is for the month of July this year, at the Port of Santos, by ship.

The images released by the Government of São Paulo are part of a batch of 14 units ordered by Metrô from Build Your Dreams (BYD), the multinational responsible for manufacturing the Chinese trains.

The established schedule defines the arrival of the second train later this year and the others being delivered to Brazil gradually in 2025, the year in which Metro aims to complete the rough work on the line. Reconstruction works on Line 17-Ouro were resumed in September last year.

However, the line will only open in 2026. The section will connect Congonhas Airport to the rail transport network and is estimated to benefit around 100,000 people daily.

About the vehicle

The monorail trains are made up of five interconnected cars that have an air conditioning system, LED lighting, surveillance cameras and an audiovisual communication system.

Each car has four 1.6 meter wide doors, following accessibility standards and facilitating access for people with disabilities and reduced mobility.

The Train Monitoring Control system (TCMS) and CBTC signaling allow closer proximity between trains, reducing circulation intervals and increasing line capacity.

The traction batteries function as a backup energy source, ensuring that the train reaches the next station in the event of an interruption in the power supply, prioritizing passenger safety.

The monorail uses 800 mm wide concrete beams as its base. The traction system with electric motors contributes to reducing pollutant emissions, promoting more environmentally friendly transport.
