The second part of the western “Horizon: An American Saga”, directed by Kevin Costner, will have its world premiere on September 7, the closing day of the Venice Film Festival, organizers said on Wednesday (30), after the premiere of the first part at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
The film, which will be shown out of competition at the Italian festival, will be preceded by the screening of the first part of the saga, “Chapter One”.
Costner stars, directs and produces the film, which covers a 15-year period before and after the American Civil War, between 1861 and 1865, when white settlers moved west, taking land from Native Americans.
He has completed the first two parts and plans to film two more, although he said at the Cannes Film Festival in France that he was unsure how to finance them.
The 2024 edition of the Venice Film Festival will run from August 28 to September 7, with a host of stars expected to attend after many were left out last year due to the 2023 Hollywood actors’ strike.
