Hamas is expected to release four Israeli soldiers on Saturday (25) in exchange for a group of Palestinian prisoners under a ceasefire agreement aimed at ending the 15-month war in Gaza.
The four women were kidnapped by Hamas combatants who invaded the Israeli Army base of Nahal Oz during the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
The Hamas Prison Media Office said it expected 200 prisoners to be released on Saturday as part of the exchange, including 120 Palestinians serving perpetual penalties and 80 prisoners with other long sentences.
This Saturday’s exchange would be the second since the ceasefire came into force on Sunday (19) and Hamas delivered three Israelis in exchange for 90 Palestinian prisoners.
Hamas identified on Friday (24) the four hostages to be released in the second exchange. They are: Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy and Liri Albag.

The ceasefire agreement, prepared after months of US-mediated negotiations and supported by the United States, interrupted the fight for the first time since a truce that lasted only one week in November 2023.
