Satellite images show trucks leaving Gaza at the Rafah crossing; look

A satellite image, captured this Saturday morning (21), showed trucks with humanitarian aid returning from the Gaza Strip and others still lined up at the Rafah crossing, which was briefly opened earlier.

The image was taken at 11:22 am local time (5:22 am, Brasília time), more than an hour after the passage opened for service. In it, empty trucks are seen returning to Egypt.

The border crossing was opened for a short period to allow 20 trucks of humanitarian aid crossing the Gaza Strip from Egypt.

Although many have welcomed the situation human rights groups have warned that more aid is desperately needed for more than 2 million people in the region.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was one of those who warned this Saturday that “the needs are much greater” .

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also called for the crossing to remain open “to allow for the continued movement of aid that is imperative to the well-being of the people of Gaza” in a statement on Saturday.
