Salos in Britain with fast food advertising – over 1,000 complaints for “mockery of Christ’s baptism”

An advertisement of the Fast Food KFC chain has sparked a storm of reactions in Britain, with many considering it to “ironic” Christian faith. According to the Daily Mail, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received over 1,000 complaints about this ad. The advertisement, entitled “All Hail Gravy”, shows a man baptized in a lake of sauce and turning into a human -sized chicken wing. At the same time, hymns are heard, and the spot ends with the phrase “Believe in Chicken”. ASA, however, has announced that it would not be investigated, considering that advertising does not violate the applicable advertising guidelines. In its announcement, the Authority points out that the advertising spot depicts a “fantastic and excessive script”, which could be interpreted as abstract and not as offensive. According to ASA, advertising is not likely to cause damage to children or cause unjustified anxiety or serious insults.
