After a hiatus of several years, the Furniture expothe main international design fair in the Milanese district of Rho, finally returns to take place in style in 2022 and, at the same time, celebrates its 60th anniversary. From 7 to 12 June 2022, furniture designers and manufacturers will present their innovations to an international audience. On Wednesday 8 June 2022, the editions of AD Architectural Digest from Italy, Germany, Spain, France, India, Mexico and the United States organized, for the first time together, a cocktail during the Salone del Mobile.
About 350 renowned guests and industry decision makers met in Elisa and Stefano Giovannoni’s spectacular penthouse; between them Oliver Jahn, Deputy Global Editorial Director AD ArchitecturalAnd Francesca Santambrogio, Head of Editorial Content AD Italy.
Oliver Jahn, Deputy Global Editorial Director AD Architectural Digest declares: «The Salone del Mobile and AD Architectural Digest have a long history together. For us, the fair has always been one of the best moments of the year. This is where the trends and innovations that shape the industry over the long term emerge. It is even better that this year we will meet again on site and in person. This is the basis of what forms this sector and makes it so special ».
Inspired by the special event of last year’s Salone del Mobile, which had a considerably reduced scope, the 2022 fair is also accompanied by conferences and round tables. This year the fair focuses intensely on the theme of sustainability in design: at the 23rd “Salone Satellite”, more than 600 creatives, designers, brands and young talents will show their projects produced in a sustainable way. The motto of this year’s Salone Satellite is: “Designing for Our Future Selves”. The exhibition intends to encourage people to think about a more inclusive design that helps all parts of society to achieve greater autonomy, comfort and safety.
«For two years we have not had the opportunity to meet, to think about the future, to grow together. The Salone del Mobile has always been this, an immense common home. This year the Salone del Mobile has returned to welcome the world and this year AD presents itself in the extraordinary richness of its international editions. I believe there could not have been a more authentic, current and stimulating dialogue », he affirms Francesca Santambrogio, Head of Editorial Content AD Italy.
#ADLovesSalone
AD Architectural Digest and the Salone del Mobile have a long collaboration. In 2020, at the height of the first Coronavirus pandemic, AD Architectural Digest launched the #ADLovesSalone initiative to support the Salone del Mobile, Italian manufacturers and the industry as a whole. The Salone itself acts as a facilitator and co-curator. In 2022, for the first time, the editions jointly organize a physical event as part of the Salone del Mobile in Milan.
