A solidarity aperitif and a guided tour at the Vignale Residence in Milan to raise funds to support the next mission. He organized it, at the end of September, Safe Heart Odvsocial solidarity association for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases for all those populations wounded by war and poverty.
Founded in 2013 by will of cardiac surgeons Maurizio Roberto, Marco Zanobini, Alberto Pilozzi Casado and Samer Kassem, the association is based on the principle that Health is a fundamental and non-elitist human right and has as its objective, in addition to patient care, also the adequate training of a team of cardiac surgeons capable of operating autonomously in the area, in order to develop a local healthcare system.
The evening aimed to raise funds to support the Burkina Faso project where in 2021 thanks to the activity of Safe Heart Odv it was possible to carry out the first open heart cardiac surgery and in 2024, for the first time in the territories of French-speaking Africa, correction operations of the ascending aorta and left ventricle. A very important objective achieved is precisely to have made the local team independent on valve surgery and to have started a further step on aorta surgery, while the next step will be to start coronary surgery.
«A big thank you to all the people present and to all those who support us», said Dr. Marzo Zanobini, one of the founding members of the association, during the evening. «Everything we are doing and that unites us is a gesture of love». All funds raised will go towards patient care and training of local staff. During the evening, which made it possible to raise funds to cover 60 percent of the costs of the next missionand, the testimonies of the humanitarian missions carried out so far were also shared with the public.
