A Russian missile attack on the city of Odessa, in southern Ukraine, hit civilian infrastructure and injured at least three people, including a 19-year-old boy, on Monday morning (24), Governor Oleh Kiper said.
The offensive damaged a warehouse where around 50 people worked, military and regional authorities added. A huge cloud of smoke rose from where firefighters were fighting a fire, according to photos published by the Ministry of the Interior.
The Ukrainian Air Force said it prevented one of the two cruise missiles launched by Russia from reaching its target.
Kiper said on national television that about 5,000 square meters were damaged in the attack and that a fire spread to 3,000 square meters.
Two middle-aged men, in addition to the 19-year-old boy, were taken to the hospital, according to the governor.
The Air Force issued a warning to the city about a missile threat shortly before the attack.
Odessa has been a frequent target of Russian forces, with many attacks targeting the city’s port facilities. Russia denies targeting civilians or civilian infrastructure.
