Russian digital influencers published videos destroying Chanel bags after the French fashion house, which is a reference in the fashion world, suspended all business in the country for the invasion of Ukraine.
Now, sanctions imposed by the European Union also prohibit luxury items from being sold to Russian elites.
However, Russian influencers didn’t like the restrictions and cut the brand’s bags in protest. They claim that the measures are a lack of respect for the brand with customers.
The fifth package of sanctions against Russia was formally adopted last Friday (8), and includes bans on the import of coal, wood, chemicals and other products.
The measures also prevent many Russian ships and trucks from accessing the EU, further damaging trade, and will ban all transactions with four Russian banks, including VTB.
