Russian forces have intercepted two long-range Storm Shadow cruise missiles supplied to Ukraine by the United Kingdom, the Russian Ministry of Defense said on Saturday (27).
The ministry also claimed to have intercepted US-built short-range HIMARS and HARM missiles and shot down 12 drones in the past 24 hours.
Russia did not specify where the intercepts took place, but made the announcement in its daily statement from the Ministry of Defense, where it provides updates on what it calls a “special military operation” in Ukraine.
Reuters could not immediately verify the battlefield reports.
Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense did not respond to a request for comment at this time. Kiev officials have previously said Western-supplied weapons would be used exclusively against Russian forces inside Ukraine.
Drone strikes were recorded deep inside Russian territory on Saturday, hitting oil pipeline installations. Russia tends to blame Kiev for such attacks, although Ukraine has not publicly acknowledged launching attacks against targets inside Russia.
