The delivery of British fighter jets to Ukraine would have military and political ramifications for the entire European continent, the Russian Embassy quoted.
The headlines follow Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s request for deliveries of British fighter jets to secure a “world-changing” victory.
Addressing both houses of Parliament, Zelensky said that when he visited the UK two years ago, he thanked officials for the “delicious English tea… and today I will leave Parliament thanking all of you in advance for the powerful English planes.”
The Washington Post wrote that “after the United States, Britain is the largest donor of military aid to Ukraine. It has so far committed $2.8 billion and has pledged to match that amount by 2023, according to a recent parliamentary briefing paper. The last month agreed to send Challenger 2” tanks.
Market reaction
At the time of writing these lines, the S&P 500 index was still down, with a loss of 0.66%, to 4,129 points, after falling from a high of 4,168 to a low of 4,113 points, after the spokesmen for the Federal Reserve will advocate further interest rate hikes. However, the index is correcting higher from the lows and the US dollar is under pressure.
