Russia: Two Zaporizhia station workers arrested ‘for helping Ukraine’

Two workers at the Ukrainian Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant which is under the control of Russian were arrested for providing information to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian National Guard and a Russian-appointed regional official announced today.

In its announcement, the Russian National Guard says it managed to prevent what it called “illegal actions” that threatened the security of the nuclear plant and that it arrested two plant workers, along with a third person, who it says violated the plant’s access procedures and cooperated with the Ukrainian armed forces.

THE nuclear power plant of Zaporizhia, Europe’s largest, was captured by Russian troops in March. It remains close to the front line and has come under repeated fire in recent weeks, raising fears of a nuclear disaster. Both Russia and Ukraine have blamed each other for bombings in the nuclear power plant area.
