A man opened fire on a kindergarten in the central Russian city of Ulyanovsk today, killing two students and a kindergarten teacher and then committing suicide, a local government official told AFP.

“According to initial reports, shots were fired at a kindergarten. Two children are dead, one a kindergarten teacher and the perpetrator as well,” Dmitry Kamal, a spokesman for the local authorities, told AFP.

He said the age of the children was not known, but was probably “between three and six years old”, adding that investigators were at the scene of the attack.

Sergei Morozov, a member of parliament and former governor of the region, told the Ria Novosti news agency that a kindergarten teacher and two children, born in 2016 and 2018, were dead.
