Russia has handed over a proposal for an agreement to the Ukrainian side, but Kyiv is in no hurry to respond, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov was quoted as saying by Russia’s Ria Novosti news agency.
Peshkov accused the Ukrainian side of constantly moving away from the previously agreed agreements, constantly changing them, which negatively affects the effectiveness of the negotiations.
“The Ukrainian side has been given the document of our proposals, which includes absolutely clear terms. The ball is in their court. We are waiting for an answer,” Peskov noted.
He also noted that Moscow has repeatedly noted Kiev’s reluctance to speed up the search for a solution and now “the Ukrainians do not show much willingness to intensify the negotiation process.”
Zelensky “has not seen” the draft peace agreement that he says was sent to him by the Kremlin
However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he had neither seen nor heard anything about the Kremlin’s draft terms for ending the war, which he said he had sent to Kyiv.
In a press conference in Kyiv with European Council President Charles Michel, Zelensky said that Ukraine’s accession to the EU is a “priority” for his country.
“It is a priority for our state, for the power of our people,” he said.
For his part, Michel assured that the EU will do “everything it can” for Ukraine to “win the war” and noted that the EU has so far provided 1.5 billion euros in military aid to Kyiv.
“You are not alone, we are with you and we will do everything possible to support you and ensure that Ukraine wins the war,” said Michel.
Vladimir Putin “will not be able to divide the EU”, Michel also assured, while welcoming the ability of the “27” to make decisions “all together and unanimously” on sanctions against Russia.
Lavrov: Talks with Ukraine depend on Kiev’s readiness to take into account Moscow’s demands
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoλουlu in a telephone conversation on Wednesday that the outcome of talks with Ukraine depended entirely on Kiev’s readiness to heed Russia’s demands.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that Lavrov and Tsavousoglu discussed the situation in Mariupol and possible measures aimed at providing security to civilians, including from foreign countries.
