Russia says China refused to supply the country with aircraft parts

A senior Russian official said on Thursday that China has refused to support Russia with aircraft parts as the country seeks to obtain components after tough aviation sanctions.

The head of the Aircraft Airworthiness Department at the Federal Air Transport Agency, Valery Kudinov, said there were about 70 aircraft on the Russian registry before the end of February, Russian state news agency TASS reported.

Kudinov further said that the situation of aircraft maintenance and import of spare parts is planned to be resolved, including through the re-export of components, TASS reported.

According to the Russian state agency, Kudinov said: “As far as I know… China has refused [fornecer peças para aeronaves]”, adding that the search would continue to other countries, possibly Turkey or India.

“Each company will trade on its own,” added Kudinov.

The world’s two largest aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus, have stopped supplying aircraft components to Russian airlines.
